Gosh can't believe it's all over!

Hi all!

Here is my Christmas tree with all of the wonderful, thoughtful and clever gifts proudly displayed having been carted from Hamilton to Foxton Beach, through to Palmerston North (my Dads) and back home again!

Rachael - I had to search through all my clothes to find your brooch as I have worn it twice already!

Adrianne - I love the handmade bell, it got tinkled to wake me by my girls each morning as they bought me that days present to open...sigh.. so much for sleeping in on holiday!

Michelle - wow! Very cool calendar! I think I will wait until the end of each month and add to it just a few special notes of things that have happened to keep as a record of the amazing year that 2010 will be!

Alison - the detail you have put into my peg snowpeople (Mr and Mrs Frosty) amazes me! Oh and my Mum as well, I had to sneak them away into my bag to take home as they were begining to look far to comfortable on Mums shelf!

Paula - my pin cushion is truely devine! I love the brightness and delicateness (sp?) of the flowers and leaves, may I just say well done!

Jean - one word for you my dear......GORGEOUS! How can something as simple as a door hanger have sooo much attitude!

Eileen - the stocking you made is a treasure to cherish, thank you!

Vicki - I love the colours used in the napkin holder, this will be going on picnic with my girls and I over the summer :)

Junko - I almost fell over when I opened your gift, would you believe I have a page ripped out of a magazine from many years ago showing how to do this very fiddly craft, I have never attempted it but am now so inspired at how amazing your one looks to give it a go! Thank you!

Karen - tee hee you certainly know us girls well! My wine charms have already been used on Christmas and Boxing day, the soft colours and beachy theme suits me to a t!!!!!

Miranda - what can I say, the star is beautiful! I love the colours and the textures, I don't think this is going to be put away for next Christmas, I think it will find a place to shine all year round :) thank you so much.

I left my gift to myself for my Mum as she was quite taken with the wee sayings and scents in my fortune cookie box lol.

Thank you to everyone for the amount of thought and time put into each and every gift and a huge thanks to Liz and all her little helpers that made this swap such a fantastic success!

Now as for next year...I have a few friends who have expressed interest in joining us for a swap...Valentines anyone?
Wishing you all the very best of the season, Gail

An amazing wonderful experience

Hi All You Amazing People
Hope everyone is recovering from a great Christmas. Allan and I have an accommodation business in Kaiteriteri so of course this is our ever busy time but we do have Christmas day off to enjoy with the family. We did just that. I'm sad that my morning "present opening" has come to and end and need to thank the makers of the last five. Wendy your pin cushion is just beautiful and I will be using it, using it using it!!!!!! Debbie your gold star is amazing and will be used for Christmases to come as will the adorable little angel that Medge created. She is so cute and lovely, thankyou so much. Marion your beautiful coasters have been used to sit our gin and tonic on yeahhhhh. I gasped when I opened Rachel's present and saw the incredible felted flower brooch, it really is amazing. I have so enjoyed this "Christmas Swap" it's been a time of giving and receiving, a time when warm fussies are felt everytime a gift is revealed and a time of so much pleasure. Thankyou thankyou thankyou all of you for all my amazing gifts, they will be treasured. Another big thankyou to you Liz and your helpers for making this possible. Have a wonderful New Year everyone and a safe and happy 2010 Luv Julie.

BOXING DAY

I am sneaking this in on Marion's Day .
My Grand daughter Stella, leaving out the Reindeer Food
Wendy from Nelson sent this up, (I think she makes it), sooo cool, you sprinkle the contents on the lawn, and the `Reindeer food' even has little bits of glittery food to guide Santa to the house!!
Oh my goodness, a holly tag -this is lovely
But wait there is more, and very nice Xmas organza bag -love the fabric
Marion, these are FANTAAAAAAASTIC, and I have to tell you , we used mine and Amah's on the outdoor Xmas tables yesterday, gorgeous Christmas coasters, made with bright Xmasy fabrics.
Girls, between the two groups, we have all got a lovely additional goodies fro many Christmas's to come.
I will be doing a final big newsletter in the New Year

'FELT' GREAT AT 'XMAS'

Wendy yesterday I got to share opening your parcel with my husband. Loved the creative kid's artwork on you box, but it was what was hiding inside that really captured me. A devine felted pin cushion with lots of beaded and ribbon and things decorating it. Looks to nice to put pins in! Thank you.

And Marion, another colour queen, picked beautiful colours for a couple of xmassy patch work coasters. In terms of drawing number 12 so we could open your gift today - superb timing. Your gift is literally going to be used in the next half hour when my lovely husband, who has cooked us a roast chicken meal for xmas dinner, and sit down together to enjoy it - we'll be using your coaster. He too was present when yours was unwrapped this morning so got to enjoy the anticipation. And with a great xmas themed bag to keep them in. Thank you!

To all my sisters in craft

What beautiful fragrances wafted from your gift when I opened it today!Such a neat idea, and the little sayings just warm the heart.Thank you Gail.
to everyone who put a piece of their hearts into the gifts for me, I thank you so much. This has been an unforgetable experience. Humbly yours, Alison xx

Hi From Cairns

What can I say it really is quite overwhelming the talent of all our crafting friends Thank you one and all for participating especially Liz for setting up this swap . I have so enjoyed once again opening my wee gift each morning :):) Its been very warm and humid here in Cairns I'm not used to being home all week and have been killing the aircon during mid afternoon. We have a northerly breeze at present which brings down all that heat from the tropics and apparently a cyclone brewing up near Darwin!! I have had a busy week actually organising all my Christmas Presents sewing most of them and am so much looking forward to landing in NZ tomorrow night (Xmas Day) I'll try and get a photo of our Christmas tree with the 12 days of crafting adorning the table and the tree. Every gift has been special but Julie you and I will have to have a chat :):):):):) Love and Merry Christams and a safe New Year to all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you so much Wendy for the lovely pin cushion, it will sit beside me on the sewing machine table and will get much use. Love all the beautiful ribbonwork and dear little buttons that you have added. I suspect that you did the felting too. Mine is in deep rich colours, mostly black, very stunning! Thank you
Marion ( sunny Nelson)

FROM MIRANDA IN NELSON

Havent been able to get on craft blog or post any comments, please please can you put a post on there from me if you have the time, thanking all the amazingly talented women in my group for their gifts, Seini and and I have been having a wonderful time each morning opening the parcels and I feel very lucky to be a part of this again and the recipient of such fantastic gifts. The work that has gone into them just blows me away
Hi Miranda. Just love the star hanging! I think you must be a gentle caring person to have made this gift Pink velvet and pink fuzzies. :) :) Hanging up on yet another doorknob where we are staying. Alison

WONDERFUL WENDY

How special is this?? Wendy's dear grandchildren decorating the boxes -they would have so loved being part of this.
A beautiful Christmas message for us
So now we come to the box, this is so cool, and for me typifies what Christmas's are all about - sharing - what a wonderful family time you would have had with them.
Wendy , I am so impressed, this beautifully felted and heavily embellished little Christmas Pin cushion. Mine is in Christmas colours with gorgeous stitching and beads etc
What does impress me is the beading etc is in groups of three, something we all talked about long ago:)
This is delightful, and will grace my dresser for me to use when am I frantically looking for pins/ Thank you Wendy

I AM IN AWE DEBBIE

What can be in this beautifully wrapped little square parcel??
Pretty gold ribbon, and tag to match the red cellophane.
Debbie, this is awesome, I am no artist, but girls-look at this!!
Wow, this is gorgeous, a canvas tile, that has been painted a rich `browny colour'.
The star is raised, and embedded with beads, and then it looks like it has been painted gold.
I am totally blown away by ` the artists' that are in our Group, and simply because I can't paint or draw.
This beautiful tile will certainly be part of my decor for many Christmas's to come.
Actually I have it sitting in front of me as I type this, and it is catching the light from my lamp, and I am sure it is twinkling.
Thank you Debbie

Thanks Junko for my lovely xmas ball. It looks very tricky to make! I have it hanging over a door knob in the hallway where I am staying so I can enjoy it everytime I pass! Alison.

On the nineth day of Christmas

Junko from Nelson gave to us......

a red tissue wrapped parcel......

and inside was the most beautiful quilted round ball Christmas decoration with a star tag hanging from it!!!

Gorgeous Christmas fabric combinations and beautifully made!!

Junko, I barely had time to photograph it before it was whipped away from me by Stella and hung on the tree!!!! The star still hanging off it..... but I like it like that!!!

Thank you so very much!

Rachaelxo

SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME

Medge I opened my parcel this morning to find the most adorable little angel staring back at me! She looked relieved to be unwrapped and able to spread her Xmas joy. I have studied her carefully and can't believe the minute details you've built into her like the strands of hair. She will watch over us for many Xmases to come. Thank you very much!! Debbie in Tauranga

AMAAAAAAAAAAAAZING MEDGE

Cough, splutter, gulp!!!!!
What can be in this little parcel?
I have been privy to the agony surrounding this gift!!
Would it be OK, can the maker get them done on time??
But.... I was always quietly confident, as I work with Medge, and happen to know that she is very, very talented
Medge, this is absolutely gorgeous
Check out the detail, I had to take many photos, as my flash was blurring it, but hopefully I have captured the extraordinary details, even her eyebrows, and the little bow on her hair, plus the wire wings and even a halo.
You can be proud of this Medge, she is beautiful, and I will take her to work to show her off, then she is going on my tree.
I am impressed!

WEARABLE ART

Rachel, you are a clever clogs! Right from your gift wrapping to beautiful delicate felted brooch. Mine is the black and red one and I cannot wait to wear it pinned to my black winter coat! Thank you Vickie for the lovely serviette holder. Such a neat idea! Sooo nice to have sitting out on the table. Love the fabrics! Alison

Rachel , the packaging in itself was -ooooooh -what is inside this beautiful box ? with a gorgeous paper flower, with a lovely tag and a Silver Xmas tree holding it all together
Can't open it too quickly, may need to copy the box one day, need the template etc
Oh, Oh, I am a felting girl, and wow, this is amazing, the neatest brooch, the camera doesn't really do it justice, BRIGHT yellow and orange/red petals, fixed with a beaded centre .
Love it, so me, and clever girl -your petal shapes are fantastic .
Thank you so much Rachel.

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou

Hi All Craft Swappers

Just haven't been able to get on to say thankyou thankyou thankyou a thousand times to Jean, Jennie, Hazel, Edna, Liz and Marion for the amazing gifts so far. I just love the button bracelet ( in my favourite colours) Edna's exquisite embroderie, Jennie's scrummy Christmas Cracker, Jean's beautiful compedium, Hazel's incredible art piece and Liz's gorgeous bead creation. They are all on display and cause a lot of comment. I open my presents at breakfast time each morning and think that even Allan looks forward to the unveiling. Everyone is so talented and I can't believe the vast difference in the ideas. What an amzing lot of women we are!!!!!!! and still more to come. Roll on tomorrow. Have a happy day. Luv Julie

SNOW STORM 20-12-2009

This is what we woke to this morning (PEPSI) dog didn't like her bedroom last night -my garage, so she totally destroyed her bed which was a lovely Bob The Builder Bean Bag -ideal for travel etc
You can just see her head looking -we have arubbish bag full, my garage still looks like it has had a hail / snow storm!
Never mind, she is en route to create havoc in Nelson and Christchurch -yeeeeeeeeH!!!

FROM HAZEL IN NELSON

Clever Hazel, actually in more ways than one .
I recognised the box that she has painted `gold' Hazel must have saved 12 of these over a period of time.
Love the wooden tag
The reason this is late, is that I had my daughter-in-law and three grandsons (PLUS THEIR VERY EXUBERANT DOG CALLED PEPSI) to stay last night, they are en route to Nelson Christmas -
Lysia wanted to open the gift this morning -lots of ooooohing and aaaaaaaaaahing
Well, we both looked at each other in astonishment, here she is going to Nelson, me who wanted to go for New Year, ) and isn't) - Hazel is an upcoming and budding artist, she has painted very cleverly I might add, Fifeshire Rock, which is vi sable to every Nelsonian as they drive around the Port -Hazel this is soooooooo dear to me, and it will be hung somewhere, so I can see it every day.
What I want to know is how you made the rock raised and rockish???
Thank you -fabulous, fabulous
I am going to do another quick post to show you all what greeted us this morning

A SLICE OF HEAVEN

Hazel! How wonderful, a slice of lovely Nelson captured on canvas! I'm a canvas art fan and love how you've used 'mixed media' in your piece. The little wooden gift tag was clever too, haven't seen those before! Thank you! Debbie in Tauranga
Eileen, thank you so much. Aren't you clever, a xmas stocking with you on the front!! The angel is so, so nice. Very much appreciated. x Alison.

Eileen

A STITCH IN TIME AND HANGING AROUND...

Edna, thank you very much for your lovely cross stitch. I had to resist opening your gift at 12.30am on day 5 since I was up and about at the time. Such fine little cross stitches and so beautifully finished. I love the little star added as a bit of Xmas sparkle! You too have clearly spent a lot of time on your gifts.

And Liz, I see in a recent blog picture of your beaded tassle, that it was in pink tones. Mine is in green and is already hanging on a drawer knob in our bedroom where there is a lot of green to be found! I'm a bit of a fan of beads, thank you so much.

I have say everyone; whenever I open one of your lovely gifts I can't believe that you all went to the trouble of making not just one, but 12!! Astounding when I think about the ideas, the talent, the individuality and the time and the effort that has gone into making each gift. My little mind is already inspired for next year!

Debbie in Tauranga
You can tell I'm on holiday---forgot to sign my name. Thanks Jean from Alison
Just love my snowman hanging. We are on holiday at the moment and all my gifts are out and around the place. Don't worry I won't forget one of them when we go home they are too precious:) Thanks Jean for yall your time spent on my lovely gift.

Just look at this fabulous wrapping - yes things have come to this (plain brown paper) -actually I copied this idea from Miranda last year
Oh , and the dear little gift tag -now isn't that the sweetest little gift tag ever???
For those of you that know me and have been to my house - I have them hanging on doors, dresser handles and wherever .....
Constructed of Vintage Lace (stolen from Rachael) and various ribbons and beads
Thank you so much me

also thank you to Jean H in Nelson, she has sent me -oh my Goodness - they are gorgeous -wow -that is so clever (wink wink) in case you have them too

Not sure what happened to Group 2's Post yesterday, I know Rachael is frantically busy, wrapping Trade Me parcels, getting ready to go to Hamilton today, and then to New Plymouth tomorrow to Fleet wood Mac, will check and may have to do the two groups my self over the next couple of days.
GOOD NEWS
Jean (Cairns)has her parcel, and so does Phillip, he told me the post stamp is 24th Nov: and they got theirs yesterday -so much for 10-15 days!!!!!

STRESS STRESS STRESS

Jean, I feel sick that you did not get this in time, however I have just received an email from Phillip and his big box arrived today. (almost a month later)
I think in future , we need to get any Australian mail away at least a month before , I know..... I can hear you all saying - the 31st OCT deadline may sound early , but the sorting, co-ordinating and Australian deadlines needs to be considered ... just something to think about, as our Nelson girls, who are doing it next year, won't want any extra hassles.
I am just home from a fabulous Xmas evening (where I live ) wine, BBQ'd mussels, prawns, scallops etc yeeeeeeeeeh!!

Got it from Cairns :):):)

Hi swapper friends yes my parcel arrived I was so pleased I was imagining not being able to look at the blog until well who knows when :0 ) There is a postal strike in Queensland but this got through . Thank you I will digest my pressies later. Have sorta finished work but will be going in early tomorrow morning to finish what I just couldn't get through today. Cheers Jean
Day 6 and another fantastic gift. This time from Paula. Thank you very much. I am rapt! I really , really need this lovely pincushion. I make mostly small things, so have a small craft bag that my stuff goes in, and up till now nowhere to put pins without getting attached. Thanks again Paula.

AMAH (EDNA) How do you do it??

Oh Amah, how can you X-stitch so neatly ? -amazing.
Love this so tasteful bag, and the tag beautifully stamped
But what is in the bag I wonder?
OK, I come and visit and there has never been any evidence of secret squirrel stitching , especially 12 of these beautifully stitched little framed pictures.
This is simply exquisite, and look at the small stitch count.
What is incredible, Amah (Edna) is 80+, and how special is this, I need magnifiers binoculars -in fact every aid available etc to stitch as small as this.
I love my litel picture - a huge thank you, and I have the perfect spot for it.

I have been very spoilt this morning as I also received a little gift from Paula in Nelson -WOW - can't show you (wink wink) as I suspect that is what Group 2 may have received -fabulous and thank you

4th day of xmas

Well what a very pleasant surprise today Thank you Jean your gift will be very useful
love from edna ( Mum) wonder what tomorrow will bring ???
Oh my gosh you guys have to see the amazing snow couple that we in group two got today. wow!
Your eye sight and your patience must be out of this world.
Michelle Nelson

On the fourth day of Christmas

my swap partner Alison from Tauranga sent to us.....

a very elegant white box, dressed in red ribbon and stars........

inside, nestled in a bed of white tissue and sparkly stars was......

snow peg people!!!! Mr and Mrs Snow!!!!

Alison I am totally in awe of these creations.... the detail is amazing....

Mr Snow, has a tiny KNITTED hat and earmuffs (maybe Mrs Snow nags him!) He has a tiny carrot nose. He has a red woolly scarf and is a holding a Christmas wreath.

Mrs Snow has a white hat which is very elegant, decorated with tiny beads, a bow and a sparkly flower. She has a KNITTED scarf and a red cape. She is holding a gift (wooden) wrapped with a green bow.

All I can say Alison is that these are perfection and you must have an incredibly steady hand!!!

Thank you so much

Rachaelxo

NOEL, NOEL, NOEEL, NOEEELLLLLLL.......!

And what did Santa's little elf have for us today. Something delightful to complete your every Xmas, a compendium and a gorgeous card (all the way from Cairns) - WOW! Jean thank you so much, you clearly spent a lot of time on your gifts. The detail and your colour choices are exceptional. I too shall use mine immediately, finally somewhere to store (and find) Xmas cards to post out each year. Debbie in Tauranga

FROM OUR AUSTRALIAN FRIEND JEAN

Oh just look at the fabulous wrapping fabric -and do I spy a page of Cairns news through the fabric??
Yes I do... yeeeeeeh!! -a quick catch -up on Cairns news.
I happen to know that Jean is an expert card maker, and I suspect she has made this beautiful card
Jean, this is stunning, a Xmas Compendium .. check out the neatest `stem stitch' on the word, N O E L , and the `O' has tiny beads interwoven .
This is gorgeous, all the different fabrics you have chosen, work soooo well-every time I look , I see something else -the wee pocket to hold stamps (or that is what I am going to use it for)
And a dear little gift tag is so sweet.
I am going to use mine immediately, I have bits of paper, cards, lists and stamps , tags etc all over my house, and at last I have something to keep all my Xmas things together -
Jean, thank you -I love it.
Actually I am stressing, as despite NZPO assurances, Jean DOES not have her parcel yet, and neither does my son Phillip, (who also lives in Queensland) and I met the deadline of getting his away before the 30th November -at great expense, as that was a large box of goodies.

Thanks Jennie for the bonbon, my husband like the idea of putting lollies in it, I will be leaving it out every xmas for him to find. What a lovely folder Jean has made us, it was a real treat this morning. You two ladies have put a lot of work into your gift, thanks so much, Marian from down south.

Love the moving pictures, looks very professional. Marion (Nelson) xx

WHAT A CRACKER XMAS SWAP

Punctuated by the fabulous gift I unwrapped today from Jennie in sunny Nelson!
Jennie I love the concept of your home made cracker filled with goodies! Thank you! Quite right, you shouldn't be thinking you are not creative.... :) I love it! Debbie in Tauranga

On the Third Day of Christmas

My swap partner, Michelle sent to me....

a fabulously wrapped in wallpaper (girl after my own heart) parcel with a cute wooden reindeer tag.....

an amazing calender in ring binder form of which she has scrap booked each page!!! Wow Michelle, what a cool idea.... and you did 12 of them...!!!!

I love it, and sadly for me so does my daughter, she has already written our birthdays in it and one of her social engagements!!!!

Really looking forward to using it very, very soon!

Thank you so much!!!

Rachaelxo

CLEVER JENNIE

Well, Jennie, I am not only blown away, but I am soooooooooooooo impressed.
A little about my Dear Friend from Nelson, for years and years, Jennie has always said `I am not creative, I can't do things.'... and so it went on.
Wrong, wrong -just look girls at this innovative, and beautifully crafted fabric BON-BON
This says it all -yes Jens the tags etc take forever
and.............. the wrapping
oooooooh--- what is inside ?
This beautiful fabric BON BON
Gorgeous fabric, in hues of grey, with a little beetle sewn and all tied with black bows

Yeeeeeeeeeeh!!! and inside - a selection of sweets (for the Diet)
Jennie this is awesome, and a fabulous idea, I somehow think it is one that many of the girls may copy, what a neat gift or for the Christmas table.
I love it and thank you
